Bellbirds were once a part of Binna Burra, but not in my memory. It seems that the bird species that gave its name to Bellbird Clearing, Bellbird Lookout and Bellbird Track was long gone before I first visited the park. But that has all changed now, because a pair of bellbirds have returned!

I love experimenting with ways to tell ecological stories, so I thought I’d try a cartoon this time. It was partly inspired by a cartoon series that I knew as a kid, in the 1970’s, when I was growing up in Melbourne. It would appear in The Herald newspaper (that was well before it became The Herald-Sun) and would describe the biology of an animal using a humorous, detailed cartoon format. If anyone knows what this cartoon series was called, and who created it, please let me know!
