Please join me this October for a fun way to celebrate Australia’s birds. On each day, start with the prompt for that day (see above), and think of an Australian bird.
Then either create a drawing, painting or print;
Or write a Haiku (a short poem of 3 lines; the first line has 5 syllables, the second has 7 syllables, and the last has 5 syllables). (More about haiku here, including examples)
You can then simply enjoy the moment (recommended :)). Or, you can share on social media using the tag #ausbirdtober
If you share, please tag me in too! @paula.peeters But note that I’m only active on Instagram, because that is more than enough social media for me. So I won’t be seeing / responding to any posts that aren’t on Instagram.

I try to connect people to nature by combining facts & feelings; and mixing art with science. So you might notice the prompts are also playing with your feelings, memories and imagination, as well as your knowledge 😜
Thanks to @kaylafiskbirds and @aholmesartstudio for the inspiration. Check out their profiles for other fab birdy challenges this October.
October is a big month to celebrate birds in Australia, with BirdLife Australia’s Aussie Bird Count and Bird Week Australia’s art exhibition. Be sure to get involved if you love birds!
