Spring is here, and what better time to get out and do some nature journaling?
This Sunday 5th November I’ll be running two free nature journaling workshops at the Springwood Girl Guide Hut, Springwood Conservation Park, on the south side of Brisbane, thanks to Logan City Council.
The sessions are 9 – 11 am and 12 pm – 2 pm and are free, but you do need to book. Click here for more details and how to book.
No prior skills in drawing or writing are needed. We’ll be doing some simple but powerful exercises that will demonstrate that anyone can draw, and anyone can write. We’ll check out the local plants and animals and throw in the odd game and quirky challenge. I’ll also give an introduction to using colour materials, for those who want to go further.
You can bring your own sketchbook and pencil – that’s all you need to get started. Or you can buy a nature journaling kit for $18 on the day. Each kit consists of a Strathmore mixed media visual journal 8 x 5.5 inches, 2B pencil, permanent ink fine pen (Pigma micron), and a print copy of Make a Date with Nature: An introduction to nature journaling (retail value about $30).
So come along, have fun, and get immersed in nature.
Can’t get along to the workshops but would like to know more? Then read about my approach to nature journaling here. Or go the whole hog and download my free ebook Make a Date with Nature. If you’re nearer to the Hunter Valley than Brisbane, why not come along to a wonderful day of nature journaling on Friday 1st December 2017? Check out the details here.
Nature. You know it’s good for you!
