Christmas gift ideas inspired by Australian nature

It’s that time of year again, and many of us are shopping for gifts. So here’s a reminder of some great gifts you can order from my online store, and Redbubble store.

Stories from the Wildworld is a fantasy adventure set in the suburbs of Brisbane, featuring the extraordinary wildlife of south east Queensland. It may be fiction but it also contains many ecological facts. A great gift idea for those who love wildlife, and dream of a better future.

I wrote it for ages 8 to 12 years, but many adult readers tell me they also loved it. Here are some reader comments:

” A great story, informative and meaningful, relevant and delightful…. for young and old! Thank you!” – Bianca

” We adore this book!! Especially the wisdome of the Elders weaved through it. Can’t wait for the next in the series!” – Lauren

“This utterly charming children’s book from writer, artist and ecologist Paula Peeters is gentle delight that may entertain parents just as much as their kids… Peeters has created a very bewitching magical world, and one that provides a unique insight into suburban Australian backyards and urban spaces and the pressures they face.” – Cara Schultz, Birdlife Australia

Make a Date with Nature: An introduction to Nature Journaling combines my thoughts on nature journaling, and inspirations from other practitioners: what nature journaling is, why you should do it, how to get started and how to keep it going. Illustrated throughout with drawings from my own nature journals, I tried to keep it short, simple, encouraging and inspiring.

When I published this book in 2016 I never intended to sell many print copies because I offered the ebook for free (you can download it here). But people keep buying this humble little book. I’ve now sold over 1000 print copies and lost count of the hundreds of free downloads. This would be small biscuits to a large publishing company, but it is a big thrill for a totally self-funded self-publisher like me. So thank you for your support.

It’s an even greater thrill for me to think that this little book is helping people discover the many joys of nature journaling.
