I’ve always wanted to run free nature journaling sessions where people can just turn up and give it a go. After a few years of working hard at my new business to become financially independent, I now have a little space to offer a few more free things. And after moving out of the Brisbane suburbs last year, I’m now also incredibly fortunate to live close to very special natural place – the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park. As a result, I’m really pleased to announce the Woonoongoora Nature Journal Group.
The Woonoongoora Nature Journal Group will meet once a month at Binna Burra, Lamington National Park, Queensland. The group is for people interested in observing and responding to nature through drawing and writing. Sessions are free, you just have to bring along your own curiosity, good humour and something to write and/or draw with.
We will meet at the trail head near the Lamington Tea House and picnic area. We’ll discuss if we want to explore a particular theme or technique on the day, or just go for a wander and see what sparks our interest. Then people can pursue their own observing/writing/drawing activity for an hour or so. Then we get together and share, as a group, over a cuppa and morning tea/lunch.
Woonoongoora is the Yugambeh name for Lamington National Park.

Remember that anyone can draw, and anyone can write. I won’t be leading any formal structured exercises during these sessions, but I will be happy to provide tips and suggestions.
